Albany County is the center of the Capital Region. It holds the state capital, Albany International Airport, and the interchange where I-87 and I-90 meet. Buyers here can choose between walkable city blocks in Albany, established suburbs in Colonie, Bethlehem and Guilderland, and quiet acreage in the Helderberg hilltowns. That range is why the county works for first-time buyers, downsizers and people relocating for work alike.
The Capital Region Team at Compass is based in Latham, so Albany County is home turf for us.

School district lines don't always follow town lines. Check any home's district by its address.
No. Latham and Loudonville are hamlets in the Town of Colonie, and Delmar, Elsmere, Slingerlands and Glenmont are hamlets in the Town of Bethlehem. Mailing names, town lines and school district lines don't always match, so check all three on any home you're serious about.
Your bill combines county, town or city, and school taxes, and the school tax is usually the largest piece. Rates vary from one town and district to the next. We pull the actual tax history on every home we show you.
Yes. VA loans can be used anywhere in the county, including on multi-family homes up to four units if you live in one of them. We specialize in working with veterans using their VA loan, too!
Yes. Most new building is in Bethlehem, Guilderland, Colonie and New Scotland. We work with local builders and can walk you through lot selection, upgrades and the builder's contract, which works differently from a resale purchase.
